Smoother, more even-looking skin
Age spot removal in Middlesbrough at Helena Aesthetics is a gentle, non-surgical treatment using advanced electrolysis, also called diathermy. A medically trained, VTCT Level 4 practitioner and former paramedic treats age spots and blood spots precisely, for smoother, more even-looking skin, with no cutting. Every treatment starts with a consultation and patch test.
Age spots and blood spots
Age spots are flat brown patches that build up after years of sun exposure, often on the face and the backs of the hands. Blood spots, sometimes called Campbell de Morgan spots, are the small bright red raised dots that appear as we get older.
Both are very common and harmless. At Helena Aesthetics on Acklam Road in Middlesbrough I treat them with advanced electrolysis, a precise, non-surgical method with no cutting.
What to expect
How long it takes
most treatments take between 10 and 30 minutes, depending on the size and number of spots.
Does it hurt?
Most people feel only a mild warm or tingling sensation.
Healing
smaller spots usually heal in around 10 days. Larger or deeper marks can take up to two months to fully settle.
Aftercare
I give you personalised aftercare advice and a soothing gel or powder if needed, and I ask you back for a check two months later.
A changing brown spot should always be checked. If a mark is new, growing or changing, I will ask you to see your GP first, for your safety.

How advanced electrolysis treats a spot
A fine needle, no cut
A very fine, sterile needle, about as thin as a hair, is gently placed on the spot. There is no cutting.
A little controlled heat
A small, controlled amount of heat passes through the needle into the mark.
The spot is treated
The heat gently treats the spot, without harming the healthy skin around it.
It fades or lifts away
Over the following days the spot fades or dries and lifts away naturally.
