Calmer, clearer-looking skin
Thread vein removal in Middlesbrough at Helena Aesthetics is a gentle, non-surgical treatment using advanced electrolysis, also called diathermy. A medically trained, VTCT Level 4 practitioner and former paramedic treats fine facial thread veins and spider naevi precisely, with no cutting and no downtime. Every treatment starts with a consultation and patch test.
Thread veins and spider naevi
Thread veins, also called telangiectasia, are the fine red or purple veins that appear close to the surface of the skin, often on the cheeks and around the nose. A spider naevus is a little different, with a central red spot and tiny vessels spreading out from it like a web.
Both are harmless, but they can make skin look permanently flushed or uneven. At Helena Aesthetics on Acklam Road in Middlesbrough I treat them with advanced electrolysis, a precise, non-surgical method.
What to expect
How long it takes
most treatments take between 10 and 30 minutes, depending on the size and number of vessels.
Does it hurt?
Most people feel only a mild warm or tingling sensation as each vessel is treated.
Healing
the treated area usually settles within about 10 days, and larger areas can take a little longer.
Aftercare
I give you personalised aftercare advice and a soothing gel or powder if your skin needs it, and I ask you back for a check two months later.
Some redness in the skin can have other causes. At your consultation I check the area carefully and will let you know if anything is better seen by your GP first.

How advanced electrolysis treats a thread vein
A fine needle, no cut
A very fine, sterile needle, about as thin as a hair, is gently placed on the vessel. There is no cutting.
A little controlled heat
A small, controlled amount of heat passes through the needle into the fine vein.
The vessel is treated
The heat gently closes the tiny vessel, without harming the healthy skin around it.
It fades naturally
Over the following days the treated vessel fades and the skin settles.
