Healthier-looking lips, softly defined
Lip blush in Middlesbrough at Helena Aesthetics is a semi-permanent makeup treatment that adds a soft, natural wash of colour and definition, never a hard line or an overdone look. A VTCT Level 4 practitioner from a medical background works in a clean, clinical setting. Every treatment starts with a consultation and patch test.
What is lip blush?
Lip blush is a form of semi-permanent makeup that adds a soft wash of colour to the lips. Rather than a bold lipstick look, it gives healthier-looking, more defined lips in a shade that suits you, so you wake up with a little natural colour every day.
At Helena Aesthetics on Acklam Road in Middlesbrough I do lip blush in a clean, clinical setting, not a home studio. We always start with a full consultation and a patch test, and I give you honest advice on colour and shape.
What to expect after lip blush, day by day
Days 1 to 3
your lips look their darkest and most saturated. This is completely normal, and the colour will not stay this intense.
Days 4 to 6
the colour begins to flake and peel, a little like dry or chapped skin. It is important not to pick, peel or rub it off, and to let it come away naturally.
Around day 7
your lips may feel dry, and the colour can look faded or patchy. This can be alarming, but it simply means your lips are in the active healing phase.
Weeks 2 to 4
as healing continues, the colour gradually returns, settling into a softer, more even and slightly brighter tone.
Your top-up
a follow-up appointment is recommended 6 to 8 weeks after your first, so we can perfect the colour once your lips have fully healed.
A note on cold sores: if you are prone to cold sores, the treatment can sometimes trigger a flare-up during healing. If none occurs, colour usually settles better and heals faster. We talk this through at your consultation, so you are fully prepared.

Lip blush FAQ
Usually 12 to 24 months, depending on your skin, sun exposure and skincare. A top-up keeps the colour looking its best.
Most clients describe the feeling as mildly scratchy, but very manageable overall. We talk you through it at every step.
The patch test checks your skin is happy with the pigment before your treatment, so the whole process is safe and comfortable.
Yes. Lips look darkest in the first few days, then flake and can look patchy around day 7. The true, softer colour settles over the next few weeks. It is all part of normal healing.
We talk this through at your consultation. If you are prone to cold sores, the treatment can trigger a flare-up during healing, and there are things we can plan for in advance.
