Smoother skin, gently
Seborrhoeic keratosis removal in Middlesbrough at Helena Aesthetics is a non-surgical treatment using advanced electrolysis, also called diathermy. A medically trained, VTCT Level 4 practitioner and former paramedic treats these waxy, stuck-on growths precisely, for smoother skin, with no cutting. Every treatment starts with a consultation and patch test.
What is seborrhoeic keratosis?
Seborrhoeic keratosis is the waxy, wart-like growth that often appears later in life. The growths are usually brown, and they can look as if they have been stuck onto the skin. They are very common and harmless.
Because they sit raised on the skin, they can catch on clothing and jewellery and bother you. At Helena Aesthetics on Acklam Road in Middlesbrough I treat them with advanced electrolysis, gently and without cutting.
What to expect
How long it takes
most treatments take between 10 and 30 minutes, depending on the size and number of growths.
Does it hurt?
Most people feel only a mild warm or tingling sensation.
Healing
smaller growths usually heal in around 10 days. Larger ones can take up to two months to fully settle.
Aftercare
I give you personalised aftercare advice and a soothing gel or powder if needed, and I ask you back for a check two months later.
Because these growths can sometimes look like other skin changes, I check carefully at your consultation and will ask you to see your GP first if anything needs their opinion.

How advanced electrolysis treats seborrhoeic keratosis
A fine needle, no cut
A very fine, sterile needle, about as thin as a hair, is gently placed on the growth. There is no cutting.
A little controlled heat
A small, controlled amount of heat passes through the needle into the growth.
The tissue dries up
The heat gently dries the raised tissue, without harming the healthy skin around it.
It lifts away naturally
Over the following days the treated growth dries and lifts away on its own.
